The Garlic Year

Plant cloves in October. Each by hand. 64,000/ acre.

Cover with mulch straw/hay for winter.

Garlic waking up in March.

Spring garlic. A favorite treat. Plan to have available for sale Spring 2026.
Looking good at the end of April.

Scapes form end of May into June. We snap them when they loop and are tender.
Not only are scapes delicious, their removal makes a larger bulb.
Harvest Begins! Each bulb pulled by hand and bunched.
Garlic is hung in the barn to cure. Proper curing is essential to long storing garlic.
Good airflow is essential.
After about a month the garlic is cured and ready to be cleaned and shipped to you!
Snip off a bulb and enjoy!
In early October we start cracking bulbs to separate the cloves out for planting.
The field is prepped for planting.

We use compost and mulch from the farm for our fertilizer.
Cloves ready to go in the ground to start the garlic year again!
